DLSS model selection

Select DLSS models through supported game driver profiles and evaluate image reconstruction against GPU cost. Model selection is distinct from in-game Quality, Balanced and Performance modes.

Mechanisms and technical considerations

Models versus modes

The model affects reconstruction behavior, while the in-game mode is another control variable. Fix that mode, output resolution and related settings when comparing models.

Profile matching and scope

Driver settings must match the executable and a supported profile. Shared profiles may affect other programs; review scope and close relevant processes. A successful write does not prove the game adopted the model.

Motion quality and cost

Do not judge quality only from a still image. Inspect moving detail, edge stability and ghosting while recording frame times. A newer model need not suit every device or scene better.

Validation method

  1. Fix output resolution and the in-game DLSS mode and confirm game, RTX hardware and driver support.
  2. Apply a supported model, restart the game and compare static and moving scenes on the same route.
  3. Evaluate image quality, average FPS and lows together, restoring the original profile if the trade-off is unsuitable.
